Current Events & Monthly Meeting Dates (please note that meeting dates, locations and topics are subject to change):                                        

September 8, 2019: (Note that the meeting will not be held on the 1st Sunday of the month, due to the Labor Day holiday wknd.) 
CCSS Monthly Meeting, 1:00 pm, UConn Storrs Campus, Torrey Life Sciences Building, North Eagleville, Rd., Storrs, CT.  Pot-luck lunch.  Chairs will be provided.
  • Matt Opel, PhD will give a presentation on Conophytum: Succulent Plant Royalty.  Matt says that the conophytum genus contains about 100 species of small leaf succulents, generally winter growing, from arid South Africa and Namibia.  Matt wrote a PhD dissertation about Conophytum some years ago.  He will introduce us to some of the varieties of species and provide cultivation and propagation information.  These are challenging, tricky plants to grow, but well worth the mistakes and effort needed to bring them into flower and keep them healthy.

  • Devan Parker will be holding another one of her famous Plant Swaps.  Bring a plant and take a plant.  This is a popular, fun feature of our meetings.  Have a few established plants that you would like to exchange for something else?  Bring them to the swap table.  Plants should to be healthy, clean, pest-free; and labeled if possible.

October 13, 2019:  CCSS Monthly Meeting, 12:00 pm, Litchfield Public Library (aka Oliver Wolcott Library), 160 South St., Litchfield, CT 06759.  Pot-Luck lunch.  Chairs are provided.  Note:  Meeting date and time change!!  Please park along the street in front of the library.  Parking is very limited behind the building.  There are a couple of handicap spaces along the front driveway of the building.
  • Woody Minnich of Cactus & Succulent Society of America fame will give a talk about The Secrets of Growing Quality Cacti and Succulents.  Woody is a new, first-time speaker at CCSS.  He is an author and associate of CSSA.  Woody has vast experience growing cacti & succulents.  

November 3, 2019:  CCSS Monthly Meeting, 1:00 pm, Litchfield Public Library, Fred Kattermann will speak.  Pot-luck lunch.  Chairs are provided.

December 1, 2019: CCSS Holiday Party, 1:00 pm, Carriage House, Edgarton Park, New Haven, CT.  Holiday Pot-luck lunch and gift-exchange.  
  • Glenn Lord of Lordicultural will join us again with some special holiday gifts for all members who attend.
