News & Coming Events

John Spain Picnic & Auction:  Becky Lynn and John Spain will hold our annual summer picnic at their home on July 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.  John is also auctioning off his entire greenhouse of cacti and succulents.  This event is by invitation only to all Connecticut Cactus & Succulent members, members of the Cactus & Succulent Society of Massachusetts; and members of the Philadelphia Cactus & Succulent Society.  Please contact Sharon SmithDelisle at sharonsmithdelisle@hotmail.com for details and directions to the Spain residence.

The picnic is potluck.  Please bring your favorite picnic food (enough to share), and a lawn chair.  CCSS will provide beverages, utensils and paper goods.  The auction will begin immediately after the picnic.  Please  bring your own "carry-out" boxes for the plants you win at the auction!

John is 97 years young this year, but he says that caring for his greenhouse, and giving his beloved plants their proper due is beginning to get beyond him.  He wants to see them go to his friends and fellow cacti enthusiasts.  John is an author and renowned grower of winter-hardy cacti.  A visit to his greenhouse is a life-changing experience.  John is one of the original founders of CCSS.  Please join us for a very special occasion, and a wonderful opportunity to pay tribute to a very special gentleman.

Membership dues are due!  Have you paid your dues for the 2018/2019 year yet?

Click on the Membership link on the left side of this page and take care of that little detail now.

You'll be glad you did.
